The vibrant color of Nagano

with Arthur Meyerson & George Nobechi

Dates: may 26th to june 7th, 2025

I am obsessed with Japan. Ever since my first trip in the early 1980s, I’ve been captivated by the land, the people and the culture. Since then, I’ve made numerous trips back on assignments and leading photo tours along with my good friend and fellow photographer, George Nobechi. From the beginning, I explained to George that in doing these trips I only had one request and that was that we do not repeat trips. I wanted to make a concerted effort to travel all over this fascinating country, in various seasons and share that experience with you. And, George has made that happen every time.

That said, I invite you to join us on our next adventure. It will be unique in that we will travel in and around George’s “home backyard”… the spectacularly beautiful Karuizawa area of Nagano and its surrounding towns and cities.  As always, this trip promises multiple photo ops including candid urban street photography, a mix of magnificent Japanese nature… mountains, volcanoes and forests connected by the historic post towns so characteristic to this area and, of course, the temples, shrines and castles all specific to this area. Our evenings will include photo review sessions that have become a popular part of all our trips.

And, as a perfect sidebar, this tour coincides with the final week of the Kaurizawa Photo Festival which Nobechi Creative was instrumental in helping to create. As I will have the honor of speaking and presenting work at the festival, all participants will have a chance to come early and experience the festival too, should you wish to.

In closing, let me say that I was fortunate enough to visit all these locations with George after our last trip, The Color of Kaga and Noto, and I cannot wait to get back to this country we all love and experience them with you!

See you in Karuizawa!

Arthur
